Visual Communications Presents the 2026 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival
Since 1983, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival has showcased more than 6,000 films and digital media works by Asian and Pacific Islander artists, making it the largest festival of its kind in Southern California and a premier platform for Asian Pacific cinema. The festival also serves as an Academy Award®-qualifying event for short films, with Golden Reel Award recipients eligible to submit to the Animated or Live-Action Short Film categories at the Academy Awards®.
Sikhs in Storytelling: Los Angeles
For the third consecutive year, SALDEF is bringing together a diverse group of Sikh American writers, filmmakers, journalists, and creators in Southern California to support and empower individuals to claim their place in media. This year, Sikhs in Storytelling expands to Los Angeles, launching a new media track rooted in the local community and highlighting the city’s role as a global creative hub. The initiative reflects SALDEF’s 30-year commitment to showing that advocacy and storytelling are deeply interconnected and essential to advancing Sikh American representation.

APFE Takes Final Bow in Park City for 22nd Edition
Asian Pacific Filmmakers Experience (APFE) hosted its 22nd and final Park City edition on Sunday, January 25, 2026, during the opening weekend of the Sundance Film Festival. Held at Alpine Distilling, the event honored 34 Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander films, marking the close of an era while celebrating the voices shaping the future of cinema.
SikhLEAD 2026 Media Track applications due Jan 15, 2026
Building on the proven success of the SikhLEAD Internship Program in Washington, D.C., the organization is launching a new chapter in Los Angeles, offering Sikh students and emerging professionals hands-on experience in film, television, and journalism. This Media Internship expands SikhLEAD’s mission to develop leaders across all spheres of influence, extending its reach from civic and policy arenas into storytelling, creative expression, and cultural representation.
SALDEF at Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival
Sikhlens, the world’s premier Sikh film festival, aims to share Sikh heritage and culture globally by promoting Sikh-centered work and celebrating community talent. The festival invites submissions across various artistic fields, including film, literature, music, and visual art. By providing platforms for these works, Sikhlens seeks to increase visibility for artists while raising awareness about the Sikh community. The next Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival will take place in Southern California from November 21–23, 2025.
East West Players 60th Anniversary Diamond Gala

Bringing together artists, activists, and community leaders, the event transforms culture into a catalyst for change and shows that civic action can be as energizing as a block party.
AAMA Partners with CAUSE for TOGETHER WE VOTE at Haunted Little Tokyo
CAUSE, in partnership with the Little Tokyo Ghost Club, hosts the 9th Annual Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party, a community Halloween event that combines fun and civic engagement. Since 2021, CAUSE has featured a popular costume contest and voter education booths, drawing over 4,000 attendees. After breaking county records for ballots cast at a mobile vote center last year, this year’s event will include an official ballot drop-off box, continuing to inspire community participation and highlight the power of every vote.

East West Players presents Paranormal Inside
East West Players, the nation’s longest-running Asian American theater and largest producer of Asian American artistic work, announced the cast and company for Paranormal Inside by Prince Gomolvilas, directed by Jeff Liu. The supernatural thriller, premiering as part of the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere just in time for Halloween, reunites audiences with Max and Delia from The Brothers Paranormal. This production is the third installment in East West Players’ 60th Anniversary Season.

The Vietnamese American Arts and Letters Association (VAALA) announced Viet Film Fest 2025, the largest international Vietnamese film festival in the diaspora. Running virtually from October 4–19, with in-person screenings at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana from October 10–12, the festival will feature 60 films from nine countries.

The A-Doc Impact Fellowship Showcase: AAPI Stories For Our Movements, recorded at CAAMFest 2025, featured the 2025 AAPI Futures Impact Producer Fellows, Reina Bonta, Lan Dinh, Yennie Lee, and Carlo Velayo, whose projects highlight the role of cultural production and movement building in driving change. The program underscored the importance of audience engagement and impact campaigns in empowering AAPI communities amid shifting political and media landscapes.
Our Reel Asian TIFF Reception
The 2025 Reel Asian TIFF reception brought together filmmakers, industry leaders, donors, and patrons to celebrate the power of pan-Asian storytelling. Distinguished guests included Ramona Diaz, Nina Yang Bongiovi, Tony Bui, Andrew Phung, and representatives from the Consulates of Japan, Malaysia, and Korea.
2025 Reel Asian TIFF Reception
On September 8, 2025, the Asian Pacific Filmmakers Experience (APFE), in partnership with Reel Asian and Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF), hosted the 2025 Reel Asian TIFF Reception during the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, welcoming over 460 attendees. The standing-room-only event featured remarks by Reel Asian Founder Anita Lee and actor Andrew Phung, followed by a networking mixer with food and drinks provided by hospitality partners.

CAUSE Summer Soirée in LA
The CAUSE Summer Soirée is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser and a premier event for Asian and Pacific Islander civic advocates. Centered on the theme “Together We Build: Our Community, Our Future,” the evening celebrates CAUSE’s commitment to voter outreach, civic education, and leadership development. New York's 48th Asian American International Film Festival
Established in 1978 by Asian CineVision, the Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) is the nation's first and longest-running festival dedicated to independent Asian, Asian diaspora, and Pacific Islander cinema. As a platform for storytelling and social change, AAIFF highlights diverse voices and supports emerging and established filmmakers alike. Organized by the nonprofit Asian CineVision, the festival continues its mission to amplify Asian American experiences through film, television, and digital media.
OCA National Convention in Seattle
The 2025 conference theme, “Passage to Seattle: From AYPE 1909 to AANHPI Rising 2025,” honors the legacy of campus activism and calls for empowering future leaders.
Co-hosted with OCA-Greater Seattle, the event will feature workshops, discussions, and activities that reflect on history and inspire action toward a more just, multi-racial democracy.
JACL National Convention in Albuquerque
The 2025 National Convention theme, “Voices in Unity,” draws from New Mexico’s rich history, from Japanese American incarceration and Native Codetalkers to the Manhattan Project, and the diverse stories within the Japanese American and civil rights communities. This year’s convention calls on us to come together, share our voices, and drive collective action for change.
East West Players presents Yankee Dawg You Die at the David Henry Hwang Theater, July 3 - July 27, 2025
East West Players will stage a July 2025 revival of Yankee Dawg You Die by Philip Kan Gotanda, a landmark play exploring the struggles of Asian American actors in Hollywood. Centered on the unlikely friendship between two performers at different career stages, the story reveals the personal and professional compromises artists make in a challenging industry.
